Mentorship Fees – FAQs

Mentorship is a two-way street. Mentors are investing their time and effort; while mentees should do the same.

Charging reasonable fees (generally, highly discounted from the mentor’s traditional hourly rates of compensation) ensures that the mentee is serious about the mentor relationship (i.e., has “skin in the game”).

The fees also helps the mentor justify dedicating time regularly to helping mentees.

A proficiency assessment is a highly-involved examination of an individual’s knowledge and ability to apply concepts. It requires the effort of a highly-skilled and academically or professionally-qualified examiner and evaluator.

The fees charged (minus a small percentage dedicated to continued growth of the community) are paid to the academics and professionals undertaking the evaluation process.

Also, the cost helps ensure that individuals being assessed are serious and dedicated to the process of demonstrating the highest degree of proficiency possible.

Mentors charge for half-hour or hour-long mentoring sessions.

The amount of the fee is determined by the individual mentor.

Fees must be paid in advance of scheduling the meeting.

Fees are generally non-refundable, except in rare circumstances.

Certain member benefits entail additional fees beyond simply the membership dues.

Currently, the two benefits where additional fees apply include:

• Proficiency Assessments;
• Mentor Sessions; and
• Custom Course Development.

Proficiency assessment fees are $1,000 per individual assessment.

An individual assessment applies to one individual and one subject matter of assessment. (For example, Jane Doe is assessed on her proficiency in business strategy.)

The fees are collected in advance of providing the benefit to which they are attached. The method of collection various based upon the benefit desired.

For example, mentees must pay the applicable fee at the time of scheduling a mentor meeting. This is handled through our scheduling software and payment processor.

When scheduling a proficiency assessment, you pay at the time of scheduling the assessment or examination. This is also handled through our scheduling software and payment processor.

Fees applicable to course developed are handled via a separate contract and statement of work between The Business Professor, LLC and the company.
